The **Indian Divorce Act, 1869 (IDA)** is the principal statute governing dissolution of marriage and related matrimonial causes for Christians in India. It applies where either party to the marriage professes the Christian religion, and covers dissolution of marriage, nullity, judicial separation, restitution of conjugal rights, alimony, custody and related reliefs.
