Procedure for witnesses in case of threatening, etc

AI Assist

Summary

A witness or any other person can file a complaint about the offence of threatening or related conduct. Anyone who saw or knows about the incident may approach the police or a magistrate to report it. Filing this complaint lets authorities begin an investigation and may lead to prosecution.

Example

Priya saw her neighbour threaten Meera during an argument. As a witness Priya can file a complaint at the local police station reporting the threat. The police can then investigate, may register an FIR, and the matter can proceed to prosecution.

Bare Act

Enacted text
