AI Assist
Summary
A public servant who prepares or translates any document or electronic record and knowingly or believingly makes it incorrect, with intent or knowledge that it may cause injury to someone, commits an offence. It applies when the person is officially charged with drafting or translating the record. Penalty: up to three years imprisonment, or fine, or both.
Example
Rohan, a municipal clerk, deliberately translates a property record to remove a tenant's name so the tenant cannot claim rights. Because Rohan was the public servant responsible for translating the record and knew it was incorrect and likely to cause injury, he can be punished with up to three years imprisonment, or a fine, or both.
