Preliminary Examination Syllabus

The Prelims exam serves as an objective-type screening test. The weightage is split into 70% Law and 30% Language Proficiency.

Part A: Law (70 Marks)

• The Core Criminal Laws:
  • Indian Penal Code, 1860 (IPC) & Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023 (BNS)
  • Code of Criminal Procedure, 1973 (CrPC) & Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita, 2023 (BNSS)
  • Indian Evidence Act, 1872 (IEA) & Bharatiya Sakshya Adhiniyam, 2023 (BSA)
• Special & Local Acts:
  • The Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act, 1989
  • The Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act, 2012 (POCSO)
  • The Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection of Children) Act, 2015
  • The Probation of Offenders Act, 1958
  • The Arms Act, 1959
  • The Rajasthan Excise Act, 1950
  • The Rajasthan Public Examination (Prevention of Unfair Means) Act, 1992
  • The Rajasthan Public Examination (Measures for Prevention of Unfair Means in Recruitment) Act, 2022

Part B: Language Proficiency (30 Marks)

• General Hindi (15 Marks): Grammar topics including Sandhi (संधि एवं संधि-विच्छेद), Prefix & Suffix (उपसर्ग, प्रत्यय), Antonyms (विलोम शब्द), Synonyms (पर्यायवाची शब्द), One-word substitution (वाक्यांश के लिए एक शब्द), Word & Sentence Correction (शब्द शुद्धि/वाक्य शुद्धि), and Administrative Terminology.
• General English (15 Marks): Tenses, Active and Passive Voice, Direct and Indirect Narration, Determiners, Prepositions, Modals, One-word substitution, and Comprehension.

Main Examination Syllabus

The Main Examination consists of descriptive, subjective papers distributed into legal theories and advanced language writing skills.

Paper I: Law (Total Subjective Breakdown)

The core substantive sections track identical focus areas as the Prelims but require deep-dive descriptive answers, application of case laws, and legal formatting:

• Indian Penal Code & BNS (General explanations, exceptions, offenses against the human body, property, public tranquility, etc.)
• Criminal Procedure Code & BNSS (Arrest, processes to compel appearance/production, investigation, trials, charge-framing, judgment, bail, and appeals)
• Indian Evidence Act & BSA (Relevancy of facts, oral/documentary evidence, burden of proof, examination of witnesses)
• All Local and Special Acts listed in the Prelims section.

Paper II: Language Proficiency (Descriptive)

• General Hindi (50 Marks): Comprehensive grammar application, sentence structure, Idioms & Phrases (मुहावरे एवं लोकोक्तियां), English-to-Hindi Translation, Précis writing (संक्षिप्तीकरण), Office Correspondence (official letter/circular drafting), and Essay writing.
• General English (50 Marks): Tenses, Voice, Narration, Modals, Phrasal verbs, Reading Comprehension, Hindi-to-English Translation, and formal Drafting (Letter/Report/Notice writing).
