(Repealed) Breach of contract to serve at distant place to which servant is conveyed at master’s expense

AI Assist

Summary

An offence that penalised a servant who, after being conveyed by his master at the master’s expense to a distant place, broke his contract has been removed from the law. It applied where an employer paid a worker’s travel and the worker then refused to perform the agreed service. Since repealed, it no longer creates a criminal offence.

Example

Ravi’s employer paid for his train fare to send him to a shop in another town to work. If Ravi then refused to serve and left, this used to be a criminal breach because he had been conveyed at the master’s expense, but the provision has been repealed and no criminal charge under it can be started now.
