AI Assist
Summary
State government may propose that road transport services generally or on specific routes be run by the State transport undertaking and must publish a detailed proposal in the State Official Gazette and in at least one regional newspaper covering the area. From the date of that publication, no permit may be granted to others except a temporary permit during the proposal's pendency; such temporary permits are valid only for one year from issue or until the final scheme is published, whichever is earlier.
Example
Priya runs a private bus on the Kalanagar route. The State government publishes a proposal that the State transport undertaking should operate services on that route and prints it in the Official Gazette and a local newspaper. From that date Priya cannot get a new permit for the route; she could get only a temporary permit, valid for one year from issue or until the final scheme is published.
