Record in Summary trials
AI Assist
Summary
In a summary trial the Magistrate must enter specific particulars in the form the State Government directs. These include case serial number; dates of the offence and complaint; names of complainant and accused with the accused's parentage and residence; the offence alleged and proved; the accused's plea and examination; the finding; the sentence or final order; and the date proceedings ended. Where property is involved, the value must also be recorded.
Example
Priya files a complaint that Rohan stole small goods from her shop. In the summary trial the Magistrate records the case number, dates, Priya's name, Rohan's name with parentage and residence, the offence charged and proved, Rohan's plea and examination, the finding, the sentence and the date the proceedings ended. Because the theft involved goods of a specified value, the Magistrate also notes that value.
