Public servant concerned in sale not to purchase or bid for property

A public servant who has any duty connected with the sale of property under this Code must not purchase or bid for that property. The rule applies whenever the sale is being carried out under this Code and the servant is involved in handling or supervising it. Its purpose is to prevent a conflict of interest; breach can invite departmental or criminal action.

Arjun is the court clerk responsible for organising the auction of a seized motorcycle under the Code. He must not bid for or buy that motorcycle; if he tries to bid or purchase it, that would be prohibited and could lead to disciplinary or criminal action.
