Judgment when to be translated

AI Assist

Summary

The original signed judgment must be placed in the case record. If the judgment was recorded in a language different from the Court's language and the accused requests it, a translation into the Court's language must be added to that record. This ensures the accused can access the judgment in the Court's language.

Example

Priya is tried in a court that uses Hindi, but the original judgment is recorded in English. She asks for a Hindi translation, and the court adds the Hindi translation to the case record so she can read and understand the judgment.

Bare Act

Enacted text

The original judgment shall be filed with the record of the proceedings and where the original is recorded in a language different from that of the Court and the accused so requires, a translation thereof into the language of the Court shall be added to such record.
