Power to close doors

AI Assist

Summary

The Court may order that the whole or any part of a divorce proceeding be heard with closed doors. It can do this whenever it thinks privacy or order requires it. Consequence: the public and press are excluded and the hearing proceeds privately.

Example

Priya files for divorce and says the evidence involves sensitive family matters. The Court orders that the testimony be heard with closed doors, so no public or press attend and the evidence is recorded privately.

Bare Act

Enacted text

The whole or any part of any proceeding under this Act may be heard, if the Court thinks fit, with closed doors.
