Permanent disablement
AI Assist
Summary
Permanent disablement is treated as resulting from an accident when the accident causes any of these lasting injuries: complete loss of sight in either eye, complete loss of hearing in either ear, loss or destruction of any limb or joint, permanent impairment of a limb or joint, or permanent disfigurement of the head or face. A person with any of these injuries is regarded as permanently disabled for the Chapter's purposes.
Example
Rohan is in a scooter accident and loses the sight in his right eye. Under this rule his injury counts as permanent disablement because of the complete loss of sight in one eye, so he is regarded as permanently disabled for the Chapter's purposes.
