Local Jurisdiction of Executive Magistrates
AI Assist
Summary
The District Magistrate, under control of the State Government, can fix specific local areas where Executive Magistrates may exercise some or all of their powers. When local limits are defined, only magistrates within those limits can use the specified powers in that area. If no limits are defined, every Executive Magistrate has jurisdiction and powers throughout the whole district.
Example
Priya runs a small shop in a town in the district. The District Magistrate defines that only Executive Magistrates stationed in that town can issue certain orders there. Because of that definition, an Executive Magistrate from another part of the district cannot exercise those powers over Priya's shop.
