Power to direct levy of amount due on certain recognizances

AI Assist

Summary

High Court or Court of Session can order a Magistrate to collect any money due under a bond given for appearance or attendance at that High Court or Court of Session. It applies when the person bound, or their surety, fails to comply with the bond. On such direction the Magistrate levies and recovers the amount due.

Example

Priya gave a bond to appear before the Sessions Court but did not attend; the Sessions Court directed a Magistrate to collect the bond amount. The Magistrate levied the due sum from the surety’s property as ordered.
