Direction, etc., of search-warrants

General procedural rules that govern search-warrants (for example how they are issued, served, executed and returned) also apply to warrants issued under the investigative provisions, to the extent those rules fit. When a warrant is issued under those specific provisions, officers and courts must follow the applicable existing procedures. The provision just imports those earlier rules so they govern the newer types of warrants as far as relevant.

Priya files an FIR reporting stolen goods from her shop. Police obtain a search-warrant under an investigative provision to search a suspect's house. The same procedural rules about serving, executing and returning warrants apply, so the police must follow those established steps when they conduct the search.
