Section134
Number of witnesses
AI Assist
Summary
No fixed number of witnesses is required to prove any fact in court. The court evaluates the quality, consistency and credibility of testimony, not just how many people testify. A single reliable witness can be enough to prove a fact; several unreliable witnesses are not conclusive.
Example
Priya sees someone take her scooter and testifies in court. Even if she is the only witness, the court may accept her evidence if her account is credible and consistent. The law does not insist on more witnesses just because only one person testified.
