Service on Government servant
AI Assist
Summary
When the summoned person is an active government servant, the court will normally send two copies of the summons to the head of that office. The head must get the summons served in the manner allowed by section 64 and return a signed copy to the court with the required endorsement. That signature is treated as evidence that service was duly made.
Example
Priya, a government school teacher, is summoned to appear in court. The court sends two copies of the summons to her headmaster, who has it served under section 64 and returns a signed copy to the court. That signature is treated as proof that Priya was duly served.
