AI Assist
Summary
Knowing or having reason to believe that persons are about to commit or have recently committed robbery or dacoity, if you harbour them to facilitate the offence or to screen them from punishment, you can be punished with rigorous imprisonment for up to seven years and a fine. It makes no difference whether the robbery or dacoity occurred inside or outside India. The husband or wife of the offender is excepted.
Example
Ravi shelters Karan after learning Karan had recently taken part in a shop robbery. Because Ravi hid him with the intention of helping him avoid arrest and punishment, Ravi can be prosecuted and, if convicted, face up to seven years' rigorous imprisonment and a fine.
