Hiring, or conniving at hiring, of persons to join unlawful assembly
AI Assist
Summary
Hiring, engaging, promoting, or conniving to hire people to join an unlawful assembly makes you punishable as if you were a member of that assembly. The rule applies whether you actually join or only arranged others to join. You are also liable for offences those persons commit as members, as if you had committed them yourself.
Example
Priya hires local labourers through a contractor to join an unlawful assembly at a factory. Even though Priya never attends, she will be punishable as a member of that unlawful assembly. If any hired worker commits an offence as a member during the action, Priya is liable as if she had committed it herself.
