Petty organised crime
AI Assist
Summary
Common offences that create public insecurity—like vehicle theft, snatching, pickpocketing, shoplifting, card skimming, illegal ticket sales or selling exam papers—when carried out by organised groups or mobile gangs with networks and logistics are treated as petty organised crime. It applies where groups plan and commit repeated offences across a region. Punishment is 1 to 7 years imprisonment and fine; the offences are cognizable, non-bailable and triable by a First Class Magistrate.
