Place of trial for offences triable together
AI Assist
Summary
When offences are of a kind that may be charged and tried together (for example, offences by the same person or connected offences by several persons), any court that is competent to inquire into or try any one of those offences may inquire into or try them. This lets one court handle all joined charges instead of splitting the case across courts.
Example
Ravi is accused of entering a shop without permission and stealing goods. Since those offences can be tried together, any court that can try the theft can inquire into and try the trespass and theft together in a single proceeding.
