Counterfeiting or knowingly using a fake mark that a public servant uses to show where, when, by whom, or that property passed an office, its quality, or that it is exempt is an offence. It applies whenever someone makes or applies such a counterfeit mark or uses it as genuine. Punishment is imprisonment for up to three years and a fine.
Example
Priya runs a small workshop and sticks a mark that looks like the official property mark saying the goods were inspected and duty-exempt. She knows the mark is fake but still uses it to sell the goods. Under this rule she can be punished with up to three years imprisonment and a fine.
