Extent of effectiveness of licenses, to drive motor vehicles

A learner's license or a driving license issued under this Act is valid throughout India. Once issued by a competent authority under the Act, it can be used to drive in any state or union territory without needing a separate local licence. The rule covers both learner's licences and full driving licences.

Ravi passes his driving test and gets a driving license in Mumbai. When he moves to Delhi for work, he can legally drive there using the same license and does not need a new local licence.
