Age limit in connection with driving of motor vehicles
AI Assist
Summary
No person under eighteen may drive a motor vehicle in any public place. A motorcycle with engine capacity up to 50cc may be driven in public by a person aged sixteen or over. Subject to section 18, no person under twenty may drive a transport vehicle. A learner's license or driving license for a vehicle class will not be issued unless the applicant meets these age limits.
Example
Ravi is 17 and wants to ride a 50cc motorcycle on a public road. He may legally ride it because 50cc bikes are allowed from age 16. Meera is 19 and wants to drive a transport vehicle for passengers; she cannot, because transport vehicles require age 20 and a licence will not be issued if underage.
