Proof of document not required by law to be attested

A document that has been attested although the law does not require attestation may be proved in the same way as an unattested document. Attestation does not create extra formalities for proof. Ordinary rules for proving documents apply.

Ravi signs a simple lease and gets a neighbour to attest it even though the law does not require attestation. If the landlord disputes the lease, the attested lease can be proved in court the same way an unattested lease would be proved under the usual documentary-proof rules.
