Security for good behaviour from suspected persons
AI Assist
Summary
If an Executive Magistrate learns someone is hiding in his area and there is reason to believe they intend to commit a cognizable offence, he can require that person to show cause why they should not be ordered to execute a bond. The Magistrate may impose a bond, with or without sureties, for good behaviour for up to one year. The step is preventive, not a conviction.
Example
Ravi is seen moving around late at night near several shops and hiding when people come close; police inform the Executive Magistrate. The Magistrate can require Ravi to show cause why he should not be ordered to execute a bond for good behaviour, and may then make him sign a bond, with or without sureties, for up to one year.
Bare Act
