Contents of bond

AI Assist

Summary

A bond must require the person to keep the peace or to be of good behaviour. If the bond is for good behaviour, committing, attempting, or abetting any offence punishable with imprisonment, wherever it is committed, constitutes a breach of the bond.

Example

Priya signs a good-behaviour bond after neighbours complain about her rowdy conduct. If she later attempts to commit an offence punishable with imprisonment, or abets someone who does, that act is a breach of her bond even if the offence happens elsewhere.

Bare Act

Enacted text

The bond to be executed by any such person shall bind him to keep the peace or to be of good behaviour, as the case may be, and in the latter case the commission or attempt to commit, or the abetment of, any offence punishable with imprisonment, wherever it may be committed, is a breach of the bond.
