Arrest to be made strictly according to Sanhita

Arrest may be made only in the manner that the Sanhita or any other law now in force permits. Whenever authorities propose to arrest someone they must follow the procedures, limits and safeguards those laws set out. An arrest that does not comply with those legal provisions is not allowed.

Priya reports a neighbour for threatening her and the police arrive to detain him. They may arrest only if they follow the Sanhita or other arrest law: check lawful grounds, follow the procedure and record reasons. If the police skip those steps, the arrest would not be authorised under this rule.
